Thanks and Giving for Thanksgivng

Prior to the Thanksgiving and Christmas Holidays, I always have this kind of inexplicable feeling within myself warming my heart and mind with joy, love and peace. My mind seems to go back throughout the years of all of the past Holidays combining and blending them all together beautifully and magically since I was a small child.

I believe this wonderful feeling originates from all the preparations for past Holidays and all of the past Holidays filling my heart and mind with happy memories from years ago. CHRISTmas is my favorite Holiday but Thanksgiving comes first, of course.

Thanksgiving day would begin with cooking and baking filling the kitchen air with wonderful aromas filling my olfactory senses with pure delight, eagerly anticipating the amazing food we would soon eat. Of course, the tradition of the Macy’s day parade would always be displayed on the television set while I peaked and watched as often as I could in between cooking and baking of our Thanksgiving meal.

Finally, the meal would be ready and it would be time to eat. My family would gather around and sit together at the large dining room table full of a beautiful ostentatious display of food of all the traditional Thanksgiving foods and much more. We said a prayer of thanksgiving and then would begin to completely over stuff our bellies with delicious foods and deserts.

I am looking forward to the Thanksgiving Holiday coming again very soon. The meaning and importance of the beautiful Thanksgiving Holiday today is about lovingly being with family and friends, eventually gathering together around the dining table to eat a big scrumptious Thanksgiving dinner and to celebrate and praise God for his love, faithfulness, and the abundance of His many blessings and gifts.

Abundant Blessing

Dear Lord, we thank you for the turkey, the gravy and the dressing. Dear Lord this table overflows with Thy abundant blessings. Let us always be aware that all gifts come from you, and may we serve Your heavenly will In everything we do. Amen.

“As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.”

-John Fitzgerald Kennedy

  1. You made me smile. I love the season too. Will soon be busy in my kitchen to prepare our feast. “Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!” Psalm 107:8
