Whew! I Made it Through, Again (with a music video too)

For five days I have been battling severe PTSD symptoms. I thank everyone that has read my poems and words since I have fought this episodic battle. Writing and God have helped me climb my way out of this. I appreciate all of you for stopping by and reading my words, no matter how trivial, painful, boring or bland or possibly grand they may have been.

Writing is such a therapeutic and cathartic experience for me as I take you with me through my innermost thoughts and deepest secrets of my heart and mind. The journey of repair and recovery of my heart, mind and life is a long voyage surely causing sea sickness for those with a weak stomach and a pure soul. I take many of you with me through my journey no matter how ugly, scary, dull and bland it may be. I hope in some way as you read my many words it helps you because you have absolutely no idea how much you help me and how much I appreciate each and every one of you. Thank you.

I made it through to the other side. Finally. Whew!

Until next time my friends. Until next time. Of course, I pray there will not be a next time, but, hey it is mental illness… and it is life… and you know what Forrest Gump’s Mama always said,

“Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re gonna get.”

I am praying my life will be like a box of chocolates, because even though you never know what you are going to get, I love chocolate…

Also I have been listening to a lot of worship music and other uplifting music because it also helps me greatly. Music, dance and the arts make me happy. Plus, they are great distractions for me.

Alex Boye is one of my new favorite artists because he makes me smile and made the new suicide prevention song “Bend Not Break” and I absolutely love that song. If you haven’t heard it yet, I suggest you take a listen and I hope it like it.

This next video is sung by Alex Boye and is “A Million Dreams” from the greatest Showman. Alex Boye makes his own music and he also remakes other songs by giving and bringing an African flare to it. I love it. I hope you like this song. It makes me happy. I love all music that makes me happy and brings on a smile, no matter how I am feeling. It is a beautiful and empowering thing.

Here are some of his words (rap part) he added to the song. I liked it, so I thought I would share the words with you…

“I have a dream that the world could be something different

so much more than what I seen in the world we live in

a million colors come alive from what we’ve been given

I paint a picture in my mind

I can see the vision

More than a dream

It was fate

It was destiny

frame of mind

just like a vision

a recipe

one foot in front of the other

and we’ll have a new reality” ~Alex Boye

I close my eyes and I can see
The world that’s waiting up for me
That I call my own
Through the dark, through the door
Through where no one’s been before
But it feels like home
They can say, they can say it all sounds crazy
They can say, they can say I’ve lost my mind
I don’t care, I don’t care, so call me crazy
We can live in a world that we design
‘Cause every night I lie in bed
The brightest colors fill my head
A million dreams are keeping me awake
I think of what the world could be
A vision of the one I see
A million dreams is all it’s gonna take
A million dreams for the world we’re gonna make
There’s a house we can build
Every room inside is filled
With things from far away
The special things I compile
Each one there to make you smile
On a rainy day
They can say, they can say it all sounds crazy
They can say, they can say we’ve lost our minds
I don’t care, I don’t care if they call us crazy
Runaway to a world that we design
Every night I lie in bed
The brightest colors fill my head
A million dreams are keeping me awake
I think of what the world could be
A vision of the one I see
A million dreams is all it’s gonna take
A million dreams for the world we’re gonna make

“I have a dream that the world could be something different

so much more than what I seen in the world we live in

a million colors come alive from what we’ve been given

I paint a picture in my mind

I can see the vision

More than a dream

It was fate

It was destiny

frame of mind

just like a vision

a recipe

put one foot in front of the other

and you will have a new reality” ~Alex Boye

However big, however small
Let me be part of it all
Share your dreams with me
You may be right, you may be wrong
But say that you’ll bring me along
To the world you see
To the world I close my eyes to see
I close my eyes to see
Every night I lie in bed
The brightest colors fill my head
A million dreams are keeping me awake
A million dreams, a million dreams
I think of what the world could be
A vision of the one I see
A million dreams is all it’s gonna take
A million dreams for the world we’re gonna make
For the world we’re gonna make
