“Be here now. It is all about being present. It is not about fearing what you do not know.” ~ Andy Whitfield
I was searching for a movie to watch on Netflix the other day and happily stumbled across the movie, “Be Here Now,” which is a feature documentary about Andy Whitfield.
As though life is imitating art, actor and sex-symbol, Andy Whitfield, had just become a star as the lead in the hit television series,’Spartacus,’ when he is faced with his biggest personal challenge – life-threatening cancer. ‘Be Here Now’ is a feature documentary that follows him on his dramatic journey to cure himself. Confirmed in matching affirmative tattoos, he and his charismatic wife and their two children, commit to taking Andy’s healing into their own hands and living life fully, not in the shadows of the disease. Each step tests their limits and strength of character, while revealing their tenderness, humor and determination. And, as each person goes through their own transformations, the film becomes an inspiring and universal story of courage, love and resilience. ~Anonymous
This movie was made very well. It is probably one of the best documentaries I have seen. The focus of the movie is about survival and fighting and living fully through every obstacle you face no matter what the outcome may or not be. The point is we do not know what the next minute holds in store. We must not fear what we do not know. We can prepare for possibilities of the future if we need to prepare, but we should not fear them. Learn to live in the present and live as fully and well as you can.
I know it is very difficult to do this when we are living with mental illness, but it is possible. Try to find the positive in the negative, the light in the dark, something in nothing and the bright in the bleak. Sometimes you just have to change how you look at things. Eventually you will see the light at the end of the dark tunnel of despair. Your own light will shine so brightly you will need to wear shades.
There is hope. Hold on. Keep fighting. Keep keeping on.
Recovery happens.Your life will get better. I am living proof of that.
Meanwhile, enjoy the beauty of living.
The present is a gift.
I highly recommend this movie. It is a very inspirational film that has a great perspective about living for today—focusing on the present and finding the beauty in each moment while you are living it.
Bonus: Andy Whitfield is extremely easy on the eyes and soul.

“It is about the journey. Commit to it and something extraordinary will come of it.” ~Vashti Whitfield
Be inspired. Live your life even though you have no idea how it will turn out. None of us know anyway. Only God knows. Give it to God and pray. Rest assured peacefully with that.
My new mantra:
“Be Here Now”
