We are not the things we have done, but the things we have overcome. ~Alex Boyé
That beautiful quote may become my new manta. The quote is actually lyrics from a new suicide prevention themed song written and sung by Alex Boyé. I have become a new fan of Alex Boyé. That is for sure.
Please, please, please listen to this brand new song. It will surely inspire you. I promise. This song gave me chills and brought tears to my eyes—happy tears and I overflowed with intense emotion tears. Please share this song with everyone.
I am super excited, fired- up and happy that there is a new and incredibly beautiful, inspiring and empowering song about suicide prevention. It was just released in September for Suicide Prevention Awareness Month. This is a fabulous song and will touch and inspire many people. Thank you Alex Boyé for your incredible talent and beautiful compassion and heart.
Singer-songwriter Alex Boyé partnered with Randy Jackson of American Idol, the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, and the Forever Young Foundation to release a suicide prevention-themed song and video entitled “Bend Not Break.”
“You may think there’s only one way out / Can’t see beyond the way you feel right now / But if you just bend and not break / Just take it one day at a time,” the song urges.
Alex Boyé said, “My purpose for this video is to help save lives. Even if it can save just one, then we have done something great.”
“The song and the video have combined to present a truly powerful and HOPEFUL message,” stated Robert Gebbia, AFSP CEO.

September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month
So, I will write and share a post every day during the month of September containing important facts, statistics and educational information about suicide and suicide prevention. The name of my campaign is called…
Remember in September.
Prevent suicide yesterday.
Today, may be too late.
Don’t let there be anymore “what if” or “if I only” yesterday statements.
Make your today never become a yesterday you will regret.
Save lives. Talk about it. Don’t wait. Get help. Don’t let yesterday become too late.
If you have any stories or information about suicide prevention you would like me to share on my blog, please let me know. I would love to share any information you have. Thank you in advance for your contributions. Together we can do this. It takes a village…
