September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month
So, I will write and share a post every day during the month of September containing important facts, statistics and educational information about suicide and suicide prevention. The name of my campaign is called…
Remember in September.
Prevent suicide yesterday.
Today, may be too late.
What that means is that we must be proactive with suicide prevention. We cannot wait. The sooner we educate, increase awareness, start the dialogue, talk often about it and help others the better the outcome. We must prevent suicide before it is too late. We cannot wait another day. We cannot wait to talk to someone tomorrow.
Suicide does not and will not wait until ‘we are ready. We are never ready. You cannot prepare for suicide in any way shape or form. There is no better time to prevent suicide. There is only right now. Now is the perfect time.
Don’t let there be anymore “what if” or “if I only” yesterday statements.
Make your today never become a yesterday you will regret.
Save lives. Talk about it. Don’t wait. Get help. Don’t let yesterday become too late.
We cannot wait until tomorrow to help someone. Tomorrow may be too late. There may be no tomorrow. You cannot wait. You cannot be patient. Suicide is not patient.
If you suspect someone is suicidal, you cannot put off talking about it for another day. Suicide will not wait for you. Suicide does not wait until morning. Suicide does not wait for you to feel more comfortable with the conversation. Suicide does not wait for the perfect words or the right words. Just be there.
You cannot wait for the sun to shine. We need to be proactive and become the sun. Sometimes you have to be the one that helps the sun shine again. Help. Listen. Be there. Talk.
Suicide steals precious lives. Suicide destroys too many lives with the ripple effect of its destruction.
We cannot take baby steps with suicide. Each small step we take may be another life lost. We must take leaps and bounds to prevent suicide and save lives. We do not have time for baby steps. There are too many lives to save and educate.
The time is now. The time is yesterday. The time was last year. The time is now.
What do you have to lose?
- Everything… if you don’t get help or ask others how you can help.
What do you have to lose?
- Nothing… if you ask for help or ask others how you can help.
Remember in September (and everyday)…
Prevent Suicide Yesterday.
Today May Be Too Late.
If you have any stories or information about suicide prevention you would like me to share on my blog, please let me know. I would love to share any information you have. Thank you in advance for your contributions. Together we can do this. It takes a village…
