Yay! I Was Nominated For the Liebster Award

Yay! I was nominated for the “Liebster Award!”

cc

“Liebster” is a German word which means “dearest or nicest.”

Now that I learned the definition of that word, it makes the award even more meaningful and special to me.

Thank you Ufuoma for nominating me.

and here is the link to her blog post –  https://mothersofgreatness.wordpress.com/

Her blog is titled “MOTHERS OF GREATNESS” Motherhood. Life. Purpose. Her blog is great and is full of love, faith, courage, encouragement, hope and inspiration. Please check out her blog. I am sure you will like her blog as much as I do. If you want to be uplifted in spirit, visit her blog. It is very uplifting and well written.

I am very happy and honored to be nominated by you, Ufuoma. When I was nominated, it was during a time that I was not doing very well and getting nominated for that award cheered me up and helped me feel a little better about myself and my situation. So, it was very kind of you to nominate me. I appreciate the nomination for the “Liebster Award”  more than you will ever know. I truly cherish the nomination. I thank you, from the very bottom of my heart, for your very kind heart and for thinking of me. It was perfect timing for me. You are an awesome person.

I received the nomination on December 22, 2017 and I am very sorry that it has taken me this long to respond and participate in the nomination of the award. If you have been reading any of my posts lately, you will notice I have not been well lately, have not been feeling well and many things have been going on in my life. I apologize for how long it has taken me to do this, but please know it has nothing to do with my appreciation for my nomination and I have never forgotten. I have just not had the opportunity or ability to get it done. I like to get these things done sooner, so I apologize and please forgive me.

Okay. I know. Enough apologies already. Right? Here it finally is. Hip! Hip! Hurray!

 The Rules:

  1. Create a new post thanking the person who nominated you.
  2. Provide a link to their blog.
  3. Include the award graphic.
  4. Answer the questions provided.
  5. Nominate 10 recently followed bloggers and share your post with them, so they can see it.
  6. Make a new set of 10 questions for your nominees to answer.

My Answers to Ufuoma’s Questions:

  1. What or Who inspired you to start blogging/writing? I am a mental illness advocate. I was inspired to start writing my blog, because I wanted to share my story and journey of surviving and thriving with bipolar 1 disorder, PTSD, generalized anxiety disorder and personality disorder and onset postpartum bipolar and postpartum PTSD. It is my huge passion in life to help others and to increase awareness and educate about mental illness, suicide prevention and to greatly reduce the stigma of mental illness.
  2. What is the core message of your blog/writing?  I want to be a voice for others and help people know they are never alone. I pray with my writing that I will inspire hope, faith and love and encourage people to never give up the fight. We are all beautiful people. We are all strong survivors and our lives have value and purpose. I want to share how God saved life many times and how He continues to save my life and that He is always by our sides no matter what. I pray through my writing and my heart that God’s love shine will through me and touch you… and many others.
  3. What is the most inspiring book you have ever read? That is a very tough question for me. There are many books that I have loved and have impacted me positively. It is hard to choose one. Also, I have had hundreds of ECT treatments, which has affected my memory and recall abilities so it is hard for me to remember. The most inspirational book I have read most recently is…

“Cracked, Not Broken: Surviving and Thriving After a Suicide Attempt” by Kevin Hines. It is a memoir about mental illness and suicide. The book is very inspirational and it is a truly miracle that he survived his suicide attempt. It is obvious with his story that God was there and saved his life. I met Kevin Hines in person and he is an inspiration to me. I loved his book. It was very good and was such a great read that I read the book in one day.

  4. What does family mean to you? My children are my life. God has blessed me with the three greatest children in the world. I love them beyond any words I can convey. They save my life every day of my life. My children are my life. I am so blessed to be their mom and I am so proud to be able to say I am their Mom and that they are my children. Being a mom is my greatest achievement, of course. The best sound I can ever hear is when I hear me children say “Mom” and more importantly the best and most beautiful words I can ever possibly hear are “I love you, Mom.” That is the most beautiful song and words in the world. I adore my children… just to see them, and hear them and even think of them makes my heart overflow with love.
  5. What do you appreciate most about your mother? She loves her children the best she can and the only way she is capable of. She tried her hardest and has given her life for her family and children.
  6. Where do you get inspiration for your writing? My heart, love, my children and my story and plan God wrote for my life. If my writing turns out well, then I know God wrote it for me and through me. When and if my writing turns out beautifully, then you know God wrote it. Thank you, God.
  7. Which flows better when writing? Pen and paper or your computer. My computer flows the best for me. I type from my heart and very open and honest feelings. Many times my thoughts and words will flow very nicely and easily, but other times I will type too much and make many typos along the way, so I need to do A LOT of editing before I can post it to my blog. When I am hypomanic and my brain and thoughts are racing and going very fast, my fingers can barely keep up with my thoughts and words and I will need to do a lot of editing then, for sure.
  8. Who or what has inspired you most this year? The death of Chester Bennington has impacted me a lot this year for some reason. His suicide affected me deeply because I liked him and his music. I can relate very much to his pain. I knew his pain. I was too familiar with that deep-rooted, severe, horrific, internal mental pain. His suicide also scared me because I have survived many suicide attempts and many suicidal thoughts. It scares me because of the possibility that one day my thoughts could turn into reality too… just like they did for him. It scares me, but I am still determined to keep fighting to survive and thrive.
  9. What do you do when you experience writer’s block? I don’t get writer’s block very often, because I always have something to say and I am always thinking too much about things. Many times I have too many thoughts that can become disorganized inside my mind, so it becomes difficult decide which thought or topic to write about. I write about my many thoughts and feelings. So, my writing is like a written one-sided conversation that I wish I could have with all of you. One thing I have enjoyed doing and has helped my writing and creativity improve a lot is doing the daily word prompts from WordPress. I usually try to have the daily word prompts relate to bipolar disorder and/or mental illness in some way.
  10. Who has inspired you most in your writing journey? My Grandpa Edward Meyers inspires me to keep writing and gives me the drive, determination and goal to make sure I finish writing my memoir. I want to write my book as well as I can and I pray I will be able to find a real publisher, a great publisher that will help me market my book. I pray my book will become successful and many people will read and love my book. I pray my memoir will educate many people about mental illness, mental illness stigma, suicide, suicide prevention, bipolar disorder and many more things and many important lessons about having hope and faith to always persevere to survive and thrive. My Grandpa Meyers was and is my most favorite person in the entire world (besides my three children) and I want to make him proud. He was a very intelligent man and he was the kindest man I know. He was an excellent writer and was writing his book, when he died from cancer. He never finished his dream of completing his book and getting it published. I want to make him proud of me by writing my book, my memoir. I want to do it for myself and for him, as well.
