Be Proud of the Small Stuff

“If anything matters, than everything matters.”  ~unknown

Be very proud of yourself for…

  • breathing
  • opening our eyes
  • getting out of bed, when you couldn’t even move
  • picking up your children from school, when you were immobilized in your bed the entire day
  • just being there, when you didn’t think you could be
  • brushing your teeth
  • washing  your face
  • putting on make up
  • getting dressed
  • putting on clean clothes
  • cleaning your house after months of not being able to
  • doing laundry
  • writing in your blog
  • going to the grocery store, when you wanted to keep isolating
  • making dinner instead of calling to order food for delivery
  • washing the dishes
  • going to work when you were very depressed
  • going to church
  • filled out paperwork when your mind could not focus well
  • fighting the strong urges of self-harm
  • fighting the strong urges of your suicidal thoughts
  • asking for help when you didn’t want to, but knew you needed the help
  • going to a Doctor appointment when you did not want to
  • admitting yourself to the hospital when you knew you needed to
  • pretending and acting like you are not sad, in despair, hopeless and dying on the inside throughout another day of your life
  • continuing to keep going on even though your brain constantly says , “stop!”
  • accomplishing anything when your mind says, “you can’t”
  • smiling
  • loving
  • living
  • surviving
  • thriving
  • having hope
  • having faith
  • surviving each day of your life
  • being a bipolar and mental illness survivor!

      1. Oops my comment sent before I corrected my mistakes. I can’t type on my phone very well. The last part was supposed to say… I hope your list works out well for you. Love, hugs and many huge blessings my friend. Sue

  1. This is a good list. I have been really hard on myself lately for feeling so paralyzed. I often hate myself when I can’t do the dishes or write or paint, and I just sit around feeling anxious. I need to focus on the little victories. Thank you.
